Page County's Quest for the Stars...LISTEN...Developed in 2006 by the Page County Department of Recreation's Cultural Programs Coordinator (Sharon Sampsell) as a means to highlight the vast amount of vocal talent in Page County. This program has produced 92 vocalists, eleven CDs with 139 songs recorded, five talented winners and over 50 public performances and contests to an audience of more than 15,000 fans. ...bringing unknown talents to the stage with the opportunity for the community to LISTEN. DREAM...No other word explains the Page County Department of Recreation's Quest for the Stars program more completely, or more simply. ...providing the opportunity for aspiring vocalists to take the first step to fulfilling their DREAM. BELIEVE...Quest contestants have auditioned for American Idol and Nashville Star. 2006 Finalists Beth Lucas, Wade Lam and Katie Montgomery performed on Heritage Stage at Jamestown Contestants, whether individually or as a group, have performed for charity fund-raising events, festivals, at the Strasburg and Bridge Theaters, private functions, civic events, parades, special concerts and open mic nights; performing for dozens and performing for hundreds. ...crediting the Quest program for helping them gain confidence, improve their talent and BELIEVE in themselves. |

Park during our Nation's 400th Anniversary in 2007. Finalist Katie Montgomery performed the National Anthem prior to Travis Tritt's "4th of July" concert in 2009. 2006 Winner Beth Lucas performed at a special event in honor of (then) Senator and Virginia Gubernatorial candidate George Allen. Former contestant Cindy Smith is now a regular performer at Skyline Lodge and has recorded her own CD. Former contestant Brittany Fousche won "Voice of the Valley" in 2007. 2006 and 2008 contestant Ike Sours has recorded four CDs with his band "SleepFeeder" and has toured the east coast. 2007 Co-Winner Nikki Stroupe performs regularly on the Shenandoah Valley's television show "Virginia Dreams". 2007 Co-Winner Maura Belton performs regularly and is a Music Industry major at James Madison University. 2008 Winner Mollee McWhorter is in the process of developing her own business as a vocalist and has been accepted to the Berkley School of Music in Boston. 2009 Contestant Felicia Housden is currently performing regularly at venues throughout the area. 2009 Winner Kevin Boyd has been contacted by a representative of Wolf Trap Performing Art Center about the possibility of being an opening act for their performances. He is also scheduled to be a regular performer at Skyline Lodge beginning in April 2010.
